Blogpaws Adventures With Flat Emma | GBGV

May 24, 2013

As you know by now my mom had the nerve to leave me home while she headed off to Blogpaws last weekend.  If you are not familiar with Blogpaws, there were about 550 people and 80 pets that attended so it is not a small event. Pets were not limited to dogs, there were cats, wabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, chick and I am sure even more varieties of pets that mom missed. Not only was I home, but she took a flat Emma with her, how crazy of an idea was that? Flat Emma (an 18×12 mounted photo of me with the expression of a dog left behind) went everywhere with mom except on the last night for the Nose to Nose awards. Mom said she got tired of carrying flat Emma around so she left her in the room. I thought it would be fun to share flat Emma’s Blogpaws experience with my readers. She also held firm on my no people in photos policy with one or two unavoidable exceptions.

gate area msp

Poor flat Emma was at the boarding gate in Minneapolis right after sunrise but she sat patiently waiting for her section to be called for boarding. Once on board mom had flat Emma go over the safety instructions, an old habit from her days as a flight attendant I guess, and it looks like flat Emma even got a window seat, that lucky dog!

Former Flight Attendant mom made flat Emma go over the Safety Card.

Once they arrived at the Sheraton in Tyson’s Corner, flat Emma made her way right over to the Blogpaws check in area as the sign made mention of treats. Flat Emma takes after me, the real Emma, it is all about treats! She followed the paw prints on the floor to the check in area and waited for mom to check in.

hotel registration

You may remember that our house policy is NO dogs on the furniture and that includes mom’s bed. I am a bit angry about this shot of flat Emma in mom’s nice big fluffy bed…why does flat Emma get to go on the furniture?

nice bed

Just like any dog, flat Emma could not wait to check out the dog park area outside the hotel. She found it a bit small but not bad for the city. Her biggest fear was that some strange dog might pee on her while mom was taking the photo but the dog sitters kept the real dogs away so no harm was done to flat Emma.

dog park

Then we have the incident at the hotel restaurant. It is Blogpaws, a pet conference where pets are allowed but what does this naughty sign in the restaurant say? Flat Emma managed to get a shot on the “wrong” side of the barrier right before the host came and asked her to leave…whew…close call!

restaurant

Flat Emma attended all the classes with mom, this photo was taken in the lower level theater room. Flat Emma said they were the best chairs, nice and cushy!

seminar room

One of the highlights of the trip was meeting up with all the bloggers we know on line and especially my friend Sugar’s mom. Flat Emma posed for a photo with Sugar’s mom…yes, Sugar, aka Golden Woofs, has the same people photo policy as I do! My mom and Sugar’s mom hung out a lot together and had some good fun!

Sugars mom

The last few photos are of flat Emma and some of her friends that she met at the conference.  That Fresh Pet Food must have some miracle grow in it or something, note that GIANT kitty cat…flat Emma was very brave posing for that photo!

That wraps up the Blogpaws Adventure 2013 for flat Emma. If I go myself next time, I can take photos of me with my real dog friends! I am not going to attempt to name all the great people mom met up with since I was not there myself, I would feel terrible if I left anyone out. I am working on the cards and will visit all your blogs as soon as my paws allow…they are a bit clumsy on the keyboard and I still don’t have any bark recognition software…hint…birthday coming up in the fall 🙂

Flat Emma is also entering the Blogpaws 2013 Blog Hop! Stop by for more information and photos from Blogpaws 2013!

follow-up-friday-300x155Today this post is a follow up Friday blog hop participant hosted by Heart Like A Dog and cohost I Still Want More Puppies.

fitDogFridayWe also are joining Fitdog Friday’s blog hop sponsored by Slim Doggy, Peggy Frezon and To Dog With Love.  Why is this a fitness post? Because just as important as it is to work out it is also important to take a break once and a while and let your body rest. We are always worn out so when mom was away we just took it easy and stored up some fresh energy. Even mom did not run or walk at Blogpaws. Believe me, on Monday morning we were all energized and ready to get back to the usual walking routine!

Oh Emma, I would be a little angry too about the whole bed thing! 🙂 Looks like your Momma had a great time, and I bet she brought back a ton of stuff for ya!

    • May 24, 2013 06:27

I got quite a load of goodies but it still doesn’t make up completely for being left behind!

  2. May 24, 2013 06:20

Absolutely love your BlogPaws report and photo tour! What fun! Just so glad you didn’t get peed on.

    • May 24, 2013 06:27

Mom was really worried about the pee thing but thankfully it did not happen!

  3. May 24, 2013 06:21

Flat Emma LOL!!! very cute post.

    • May 24, 2013 06:28

Thanks…think how cute it would have been with real Emma 😉

  4. May 24, 2013 06:25

I hate to say it, but Flat Emma looks like she had a very good time! She certainly seemed to pop up everywhere.

  5. May 24, 2013 06:29

I hope Flat Emma brought back some treats for the real Emma!

  6. May 24, 2013 06:39

My mom had FUN with your mom. Apparently, they are so much a like. Golden Thanks for hanging out with her.
Your mom carried Flat Emma everywhere expect when we went our for dinner (Flat Emma missed a very interesting wall decor).
A great wrap-up post of BlogPaws 2013. Golden Woofs

  7. May 24, 2013 06:48

Good times for flat Emma! I hope that giant cat didn’t try to follow you home!

    • May 24, 2013 09:01

Thank goodness, no! I have enough trouble with my 2 cats that I already have 😉

  8. May 24, 2013 07:07

While Flat Emma is skinny, she is by no means fit. Not like “the” Emma.

Yes, rest is also an important aspect of any exercise routine– for dogs and humans both. Rest is one of the hardest things for SlimDoggy to Steve to integrate into his own workouts. SlimDoggy Jack is better at it then him.

    • May 24, 2013 09:02

That’s why mom runs by herself and then walks with us…she is the one with the excess energy that needs exercise but we are fortunate that she does not chew on things around the house if she doesn’t get enough exercise 🙂

  9. May 24, 2013 07:30

Thanks for joining in the blog hop Emma, it’s a pleasure to have you!

I met Flat Emma and found her to be delightful, I had forgotten about the no humans allowed in the photos rule, but I love the way mom handled that situation with Sugar’s mom. I hung with her a lot too and had a really grand time!!

I hope you whipped mom back into shape, although I do think we did a fair amount of walking. 🙂

    • May 24, 2013 09:05

Mom said she was too tired out from everything to even think of getting up early to work out. She had so much fun and she wishes she could meet up with the friends like you that she made again sooner than Blogpaws next year but at least she knows a lot of the people behind the blogs we love 🙂 Thanks for hosting the blog hop.

      • May 31, 2013 07:45

I would love to meet up with a bunch of the people I met. There was so much to do at BPs that we barely had time to sit and chat. Maybe we could plan something? Or the next BP’s come in a day early or stay a day late!

      • May 31, 2013 08:54

I think those are both good ideas but most likely going to BP a day early would be the most likely to actually happen 🙂 We will have to start planning that in the fall or so.

  10. May 24, 2013 07:49

Flat Emma is too cute! She looks like she was quite the busy bee at the conference. Though I bet Emma enjoyed the goodies the goodies that the flat version of herself got!

    • May 24, 2013 09:06

I did give flat Emma strict instructions about getting as much swag for me as possible and she was not allowed to have any of it. Being flat she couldn’t eat much anyway 😉

  11. May 24, 2013 08:23

Whew, I bet flat Emma needed to recover from all that.

    • May 24, 2013 09:07

Flat Emma did not even make the flight home! Mom said she was sick of carrying her around and with all the luggage, she left her behind, so I have nothing to be too jealous of!

  12. May 24, 2013 08:36

Oh Emma you’re flat self sure had a great conference…I hope flat Emma brought back lots of treats for you

    • May 24, 2013 09:07

You may have seen the pile on my Mischief Monday post…it was a big pile and I do have to share with my sister but it is going to last for quite some time!

I am sure there was a good reason that Mom left you behind but I am sure she missed you. I would ask for one night on the to make up for it!

    • May 24, 2013 09:08

She says she really missed me and that lots of people wished that I was there so we are thinking of driving to Vegas next year but it is a long, long drive so we will see. At least I have all the treats she brought back 🙂

What a wonderful experience to have enjoyed! Bet you sure missed Emma!

    • May 24, 2013 09:10

Mom almost did not go at all because she said it would not be the same without me but then she decided that for our blog, etc, she should go even alone and see what it was all about and it was great! I survived and got lots of treats, so I am over my rejection feelings.

  15. May 24, 2013 09:58

Hope we get to meet the fluffy you someday! Fun post!
    Your pals,

Flat Emma! On beds and chairs! You poor Real Emma, being so left out. I can’t wait to meet you for reals next year! You can pick out your own wabbity treats and everything!

    • May 24, 2013 11:12

Yay! I better start saving my money to pay for the gas to get to Vegas!

  17. May 24, 2013 10:57

Flat Emma did all the work while you got to snooze at home in peace – not a bad deal!

    • May 24, 2013 11:13

I would have gotten even more treats had I been there and I would have gotten to meet so many people and dogs…Vegas, look out Emma may be there next year!

  18. May 24, 2013 11:07

    Love the virtual BlogPaws tour!

  19. May 24, 2013 11:59

Looks like Flat Emma had an exhausting schedule! How nice you could relax at home instead, Real Emma. 🙂 Great post.

    • May 24, 2013 13:32

Flat Emma was dead after it was over…did not even make it home!

  20. May 24, 2013 12:34

That Flat Emma is a bitch…taking your place like that. Shame on your mom for leaving you behind for all the fun. 🙂

  21. May 24, 2013 12:46

Sorry Emma didn’t get to go but glad Flat Emma at least got to represent. The conference looks wonderful. Oh I love Sugar’s mama’s tshirt, I’m going to have to ask her where she got that. I need one!

    • May 24, 2013 13:33

I believe she makes them and sells them, check out Sugars Paw House store.

  22. May 24, 2013 12:47

this was just too cute! I brought Flat Dakota and Flat Cody but didn’t do any of the fun things with them that you did!

  23. May 24, 2013 12:53

hahaha aww Emma is there in spirit! So cute! Glad you got to experience a lot there. I love how flat Emma’s friends are also flat! lol

    • May 24, 2013 13:34

Once you go flat you never go back…that was flat Emma’s motto 🙂

  24. May 24, 2013 15:45

Flat Emma…how cute! We like flat Emma but we like the real Emma better!

    • May 24, 2013 17:20

No kidding, I can’t believe mom thought flat Emma could take my place! By the way, I tried to comment on your blog a bit ago but the comment window was off and it wouldn’t upload it 😦 Glad Scout is doing better and I have my paws crossed for Teddy’s behind!

  25. May 24, 2013 16:44

You got around at BlogPaws, didn’t you?! Sorry you weren’t able to make it – you missed out on a lot of fun. Maybe next year?

    • May 24, 2013 17:21

I am hoping to have Emma does Vegas and What Emma does in Vegas stays in Vegas or not…posts 🙂 I am saving my money for gas so mom will drive and take me!

  26. May 24, 2013 17:04

Flat Emma really got around, didn’t she? If you ever get to go to BlogPaws, you’d better rest up ahead of time, because you will probably get worn out! Maybe staying at home resting wasn’t so bad?

    • May 24, 2013 17:22

Mom said I would have been exhausted because we nap a lot during the day and I wouldn’t get much rest attending all the classes and if I was in the room I would be wondering when mom was coming back but I would like to go and meet everyone!

  27. May 24, 2013 18:25

Emma, Flat Emma has nothing on you, promise! Also, tell your mama that it was just cruel of her to show you the photo of Flat Emma on the hotel bed. Cruel. –Champ

    • May 25, 2013 06:16

I know, can you believe it, stupid flat Emma in that cushy bed! Next year this Emma is going to Vegas!

  28. May 24, 2013 18:31

I think Flat Emma was hiding from Flat Brian. We did meet the Mom though!!!

  29. May 24, 2013 18:54

OMG, I love the concept of Flat Emma! haha Blogpaws looks like it was some serious fun!

    • May 25, 2013 06:11

It was great, just too bad it was over so fast and we have to wait another year!

  30. May 24, 2013 20:05

Flat Emma sure had a grand time. We think regular Emma should get extra treats and extra walks and stuff.

    the brown dawgs

Yeah, I laid the guilt trip on pretty thick but the fences are mended and we are focused on next year and maybe I will go.

  33. May 25, 2013 07:59

Flat Emma, brilliant idea!! Hoping that the real rock star Emma can attend next year. Sweet post. 🙂

    • May 25, 2013 10:43

I have my paws crossed for that as well 🙂 Emma does Vegas…now those would be some posts!

  34. May 25, 2013 09:51

We didn’t go to Blog Paws, but we loved your recap with flat Emma! 🙂 I was wondering…do you feel like you would have done less if Emma was with you at Blog Paws? I can’t picture my Yorkie being patient while I try to sit and listen to a good talk or panel discussion.

    • May 25, 2013 10:45

Since Emma is the blog and social media it was hard to not have her along but for my first time going it was better not having her along as there was so much to see and do, people to meet, things to figure out. I know she would be exhausted and just sleep during the talks, but I think it would be fun to have her along. I am seriously considering bringing her next year.

  35. May 25, 2013 11:11

I love all of the photos of flat Emma everywhere. 🙂

It was lovely to hang out with your mom at BlogPaws – she’s a pretty cool chick!

    • May 25, 2013 12:36

She thought the same about you! Maybe next year real Emma will make it.

  36. May 25, 2013 17:53

You were a very busy ‘Flat’ at BlogPaws! We were there, but Teri brought our Flat Selves too, but they just stayed in the hotel room…Teri is surprised we didn’t chew their ears off!

    • May 26, 2013 06:06

Too bad they did not get our of the room, flat Emma could have posed with them 🙂

  37. May 25, 2013 20:30

What a fun photo tour and wrap-up! ‘Flat Emma’ sure did a great job as a tour guide. 🙂

    • May 26, 2013 06:07

Flat Emma was quite busy…I think she overslept and that is why she didn’t make the flight back home 😉

  38. May 27, 2013 12:13

That’s so cool that flat Emma got to go:-)

  39. May 27, 2013 13:16

Flat Emma looks like she had a great time… I’m sorry you didn’t get to go, real Emma. Though I think you may have been bored with all the talking. Your pictures make me wish I’d gone, too, though I’d have to bring Flat Remy and Flat Ira instead of my guys, too.

    • May 27, 2013 13:52

I might get to go next year. I enjoy napping, so snoozin’ through all that boring talking stuff would be a piece of cake!

  40. May 28, 2013 03:49

I can’t believe your mum has double standards and let flat emma on the bed – I do think you need to stage a protest!
