Bowie Up Close And Personal | GBGV | Monday Mischief

Getting up close and personal with cousin Bowie before the interview started.

Getting up close and personal with cousin Bowie before the interview started.

Saturday we were visiting Gramma and cousin Bowie her kitty.  I thought it would be fun to sit down and woof a bit with Bowie about what his life is like since Gramma adopted him 4 ½ years ago. If you want to read more about how Bowie ended up with Gramma, click here for my post about his adoption.  Sometimes the best way to get the best information out of a cat is to just get really up close and personal, so I decided to try that with Bowie. He seems to like me and agreed to cooperate with me for an interview.

Bowie! Would you sit down already, you are making me nervous!

Bowie! Would you sit down already, you are making me nervous!

Emma:  Bowie, why don’t you sit down while I interview you and stop rubbing yourself on my laptop?

Bowie:  Emma, I don’t know if I can trust you, so I am going to just watch what you are typing on your laptop. I am not sure about all that social media stuff you are into and I don’t want to be made a fool of online.

Emma:  How do you like living with Gramma, you must love it! Arooooo!

Bowie:  It is really a great deal for me! I am the only pet, the “man of the house” and I have your Gramma wrapped around my paws! Purrrrr…

Emma:  Don’t you get bored just being an only pet?

Bowie:  Heavens no! It is wonderful since everything is mine and I get all the attention. I have a few friends too that drop by outside and we communicate through the window.

Emma:  What do you do all day?

Bowie:  In the warm weather months I hang out a lot on the screen porch. It is ideal for napping as there are soft cushions on the chairs and I can watch all the birds and wildlife.  Sometimes it is really exciting since we kind of live in the woods.

Emma:  What do you do in the winter time? Yawn…

Bowie:  The living room is super sunny, so I enjoy sleeping on the back of the chair next to the window. It has a great view of the woods so I can nap and also watch bird and wildlife.

Emma:  Wouldn’t you like to get out there and actually do some hunting?

Bowie:  No, I am not the violent type, I am a super gentle boy. I am actually scared if I get outside by accident. I prefer my pampered indoor life with a view of the hunting grounds. It is very safe and secure.

Emma:  What’s this I hear about you having cocktails with Gramma in the evening? I never go to do that when I stayed with her! Panting out loud…

Bowie:  I don’t really have cocktails. She puts some ice in my water bowl so it makes that clinking cocktail noise and then she shares some of her cheese and crackers with me, just a little bit though.

Emma:  What else do you do for excitement?

Bowie: I like to help your Gramma with her sewing. I try to always lie down on the project she is working on so it is appropriately covered in my fur. I like to get on the keyboard to help her out when she is working at the computer, she needs typing help. I also function as her alarm clock, making sure that she is up plenty early every morning which she really appreciates. I don’t know what she did without me! Meowwww…

Emma:  How do you feel about cousin Lena? I hear you stay with her when Gramma goes out of town. Woof!

Bowie:  Honestly, that dog is a problem! She likes to lick me all over until I am soaking wet which I really don’t care for at all but I do love the kids, so I have to put up with the dog. Slight hissing noise…

Emma:  Do you like it when Katie and I come to visit?

Bowie:  Well, I am not a big fan of dogs but I am certainly not going to let you take over my house, so I try to be civil with you both. I really wish you two wouldn’t eat all my cat food when you are visiting, that is rather rude but other than that, you two aren’t too bad.

Emma:  Is there anything else you would like to meow about?

Bowie:  I would just like to remind people to consider adopting an adult cat. We are great to have around and very appreciative. You know what I am meowing about since you and Katie adopted your cats when they were adults. We don’t shred the curtains or cause all the trouble that kittens do and we need a home filled with love as much as any animal out there in a shelter.

Emma:  Thanks for meowing with me, Bowie. You can get back to your nap now, but first I would like to give you a little thank you kiss.

a little kiss

Very nice interview Emma and Bowie. Bowie, it sounds like you have a great deal!

We can also recommend adopting an adult cat because our Nestle was an adult when she came to live here. 🙂

I think adult cats are also appreciative since they have seen the hard side of life.

  4. April 29, 2013 07:26

Oh I can’t wait for the day my cat and dog get along so well! Right now the dog wants to play and the cat wants to kill!

    • April 29, 2013 08:39

Oh my! Even my cat Sophie that does not like dogs is fairly pleasant with us. I guess us cats and dogs have always been around the other species so we are used to it.

What a great interview Emma! Ma says she agrees that it’s good to adopt a senior! I was getting up there a bit too so I was worried but now Ma is wrapped around my paw!

    • April 29, 2013 08:40

Always keep mom wrapped around your paws whether you are a cat or a dog…moms are the best!

  6. April 29, 2013 08:37

Awwwwwe…you are so lucky to get to visit Bowie! We wish we had a cat to that we could go visit and eat their food! That would be so much fun:)

    • April 29, 2013 08:41

I could send you my cat bro Bert. He likes adventure and dogs. I am sure he wouldn’t mind it if I boxed him up and mailed him to you. I will have to check with mom first, though.

  7. April 29, 2013 08:38

That Bowie is one cool kitty and I sure enjoyed the interview!!!!

  8. April 29, 2013 09:04

Great interview, Emma, and a great message too! I’m glad to hear Bowie is a peace loving indoor guy! So much safer for his health that way. My sister’s cat looks a lot like Bowie, and he is also an indoor boy.

What a great interview Emma! It certainly sounds like Bowie has a wonderful life living with your Gramma!

    Great Interview.

  12. April 29, 2013 13:14

Bowie sounds just like our Rascal! Always trying to “help” with the important paperwork with lying down on it! lol.. Love you in your glasses and computer Emma you look smarter then me!

  13. April 29, 2013 13:19

You guys are doing great work improving dog/cat relations – keep it up!

    • April 29, 2013 13:52

For the most part I like those felines but if they bug me I am bigger and can sit on them so I am not worried!

  14. April 29, 2013 13:29

Emma- I love your interview with Bowie. We have only dogs in our house. What do you have to do to get a cat? Actually I think I would like to eat a cat. Wooarf! Rooooooooooo!

We have always had a cat at our house. Mom gets them from the Humane Society and we sometimes fight but usually we get along and sometimes even really hang out and play together.

  15. April 29, 2013 14:31

Wonderful interview Emma! Bowie seems like a fine companion for Grandma!

    • April 29, 2013 17:57

I like kissing cats, dogs and humans…especially sloppy wet beard kisses…

  17. April 29, 2013 18:26

I don’t think Bowie is a kiss and tell kind of guy, Emma! I thoroughly enjoyed your interview, though.

    Emma,

I so love to read your interviews, you’re great at them, you ask just the right questions, can’t believe you got that close to a cat!!

And by the way, if you’d like a cocktail, come on over to my pad, I’ve seen Dad make one of those margarita things for Mum, so I’m sure I could make one for you too buddy! 🙂

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

PS – We’ve got lottsa sun too, so we could lounge in the garden drinking cocktails! 🙂

    • April 30, 2013 05:59

Mom says I am not supposed to drink but it looks like a fun thing to do…barkaritas in the yard…be over shortly!

  19. April 30, 2013 06:06

Great interview, Emma, and I love the photos of you and Bowie. I love that Bowie said to adopt adult cats….kittens are cute and all, but adult cats are much easier to deal with! Hmm…when I take my dogs to visit at houses with cats, they always eat the cat food too! If it’s on the floor it’s free for the taking, right? 🙂

    • April 30, 2013 06:10

Thanks! Cat food makes a wonderful snack and it helps keep the cat’s weight down if we eat their food 🙂

I love this but still think you should be publishing a book.

    • April 30, 2013 16:14

I am working on it with mom but she has this thing called a job so it takes longer. Hope to have it published by November 🙂 It will be an e book and a paperback – a great holiday gift!

  21. April 30, 2013 09:22

Rooo Emma you had the cat to yourself and you didn’t even try and chase it a little bit *waggy tail*

    • April 30, 2013 16:15

OMD! Thank you…she has been wrestling with that on part…we will try that tonight! 70’s since Friday but cooling of to low 40’s starting tonight with a chance of snow, no kidding! BUT it will melt fast!

  23. April 30, 2013 18:31

This post gave me a huge perma-grin!! Also…I’ve never been so jealous of a cat in all my life!! 😉

  24. April 30, 2013 21:11

He seems so thoughtful for a cat. Making sure to get hair in the appropriate places while Grandma’s working so she doesn’t have to do it herself, doubling as an alarm clock, and making himself available for an interview with you – even though he’s not a dog fan. Maybe you can convert him Emma!

    • May 1, 2013 06:00

He puts up with us but he mainly just wants to hang out with Gramma.

  25. May 1, 2013 04:42

What a great interview! Adorable photos, too. Wonderful reminder about adopting an adult cat 🙂

  26. May 2, 2013 09:17

Great interview! Bowie is a lovely kitty.

  27. May 2, 2013 15:10

Bowie, you are one tolerant kitty. Letting dogs lick you all over? Patience of a saint 🙂

  28. May 9, 2013 10:23

What a sweet interview and so kind of Bowie to tolerate you. 😉
