My Library Visit | GBGV

October 1, 2012

Me with Clifford and some of his work

This post is all about my library visit and how fun the library was!  I had never been to a library, so this was all new to me. I always hear that reading makes you smarter so why not go where all the books are?  The only thing I had to remember is to be quiet.  The library did not have a “No Howling or Barking” sign but it was so quiet I think howling and barking might have scared people.

There was a really fun section just for kids,

Searching the book bins, smelling food, weird!

everything was more my size and style so I mostly hung out there.  The first thing I did was to make a new friend.  Do you know Clifford the dog?  What a cool dude – a red dog also with long ears.  He evidently lives in the library and has his own books and movies.  He has written some really informative stuff about a runaway wabbit, tummy trouble and other common issues that we dogs face.  Clifford was nice enough to even pose with me and some of his work.

Searching for some good books to read

There were lots of bins on the shelves in the kids section, so I decided to dig through them a bit to see what kind of books I could find.  Actually, it was hard to just concentrate on books in these bins because I think that kids eat when they are reading and lots of the books smell like really yummy food.  No, I did not eat any books, I am 6 years old and I know better by now!  I did eat a book when I was a year old and mom had to buy it.  I learned my lesson that time.

Reading Noah’s Ark – very good book!

After looking through the bins I decided to look in these other book holder things, these books were arranged in alphabetical order.  While pawing through here I found a great book called Noah’s Ark.  I decided to grab that one and lie down nice on the rug and read it right then and there.  What a fascinating story about a guy named Noah and how he built a huge boat and loaded up pairs of animals on it.  The illustrations really made the book!  I highly recommend reading this book.

Time to check out some books to take home with me

I finished looking through all those books and reading the one book, I was starting to get tired so I went to the front desk to check out.  I found 3 other books that I wanted to take with me home to read and I get to keep them for a whole week, so that is really cool!  Remember to visit your local library to check out some books – it is a fun place to go and it is good for your mind!  My library visit was great and I look forward to visiting again!

Rooo Emma – it looks like you had a real pawsome time at the library! My human used to go to our local library a lot, but I don’t think dogs are allowed in there. anyway, she stopped going after I ‘read’ a couple of the books she brought back home and she had to pay for them *Waggy tail*

What a fun visit to the library! I am so jealous that you got to sit with Clifford, he’s my hero!

You look so intelligent in your glasses 🙂
I wish I could go to the library too as it looks like you had loads of fun, but I’m not allowed in our one sadly.

    Hey Emma, Jet here.

Mom LOVES to read. We both agree that you and our pals @ BZ Training are the BEST photo subjects/models! Did you read with the children as part of a program or were you just visiting with your human?

Mom always wanted to do that with Koko, however, at the time our area did not have a program.

Just was there with my gramma and mom, it was a fun place!

Wowee wow wow… they allow K9s to enter? You have a WAY K9 friendlier area than we do.

      • October 2, 2012 06:01

Very few places allow dogs, the big county libraries don’t.

Ah, glad you live where you do, then. 🙂

Oh look at all that FUN at the library!!! We’d like to go too, but afraid we’d get kicked out for barking too loud!

Looks like so much fun. I need to get to the library. It’s been too long.

If I can have fun and I am a dog, imagine how much fun you as a human could have 🙂

That looks like fun! Did you find my favorite book, Go Dog, Go?

    • October 1, 2012 15:11

That is my favorite too! I am sure saw my post on it a few weeks back? They did not have it at the library, it was out but I have my own copy at home.

    Hi Emma,

How cool!! I’m not sure if I’m allowed in our library unless I’m there with the READ program – I really want to join it so I can have the children read to me, only problem is there are Cats there and Mum isn’t sure if I’m ready yet, doh!!

I was thinking how well behaved you are in the library and then remembered you’re 6 now – guess at your age you even need glasses when reading? Tee Hee

Hopefully I’ll get to go soon too 🙂

    Wags to all

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

What! Cats in the library??? That would make it difficult for a dog to visit quietly! Woof!

It sounds like you had a really fun time at the Library Emma. My peoples love to read a lot and think that libraries are great places to visit. The One Called Donna even brought me to the library a few times to have kids read to me, but I can’t sit still for very long and it wasn’t a great job for me so she retired me. But lots of the other dogs were good at the job, luckily, so the kids still get to read to them instead of me.

    • October 2, 2012 14:02

I guess it would depend on the kids for me – if they seem to playful then I would have issues sitting still too.

We like your glasses Emma! They make you look really smart! We want some so we can look smart just like you!

We always love Big Red Dog Clifford. His stories we always fun to read. You must have been very good to go in the library no dogs of any kind are allowed in ours. We hope you enjoyed all the books you got to bring home:)

Now that I am old enough to read and not eat books it really helps 🙂
